Though the 2024 presidential election didn’t turn out the way I’d hoped, here’s to a prosperous 2025. May the odds be with you!

In September my amazing partner Miguel and I had our long-overdue wedding ceremony. It was attended by a small group of friends and family at the Newhall Nest in San Francisco. Thanks to everyone who came, and an extra thank you to those who helped make it happen (which is pretty much everybody).

My 10th speech at Toastmasters was entitled, “If I Get Hit by a Truck Tomorrow.” It’s about living without fear and acting without procrastinating because, well, you could get hit by a truck tomorrow! Apologies for the low resolution of this video. It was shot in SD and with low quality audio, but I’m quite proud of it so thank you for seeing it through to the end.

2023 AND EARLIER

La Jetée is a 1962 French science fiction featurette directed by Chris Marker and associated with the Left Bank artistic movement. Constructed almost entirely from still photos, it tells the stable time loop story of a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel. It is 28 minutes long and shot in black and white.

It won the Prix Jean Vigo for short film. The 1995 science fiction film 12 Monkeys was inspired by and borrows several concepts directly from La Jetée.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a comedy science fiction franchise created by Douglas Adams. The broad narrative of Hitchhiker follows the misadventures of the last surviving man, Arthur Dent, following the demolition of the Earth by a Vogon constructor fleet to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

Originally a 1978 radio comedy broadcast on BBC Radio 4, it was later adapted to other formats, including novels, stage shows, comic books, a 1981 TV series, a 1984 text adventure game, and 2005 feature film.
